Are you a student, graduate, unemployed or young entrepreneur aged between 16 and 30? Are you resident in South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Kenya or Zambia? Do you dream about starting your own business one day? If so, then this could be exactly the opportunity you’ve been looking for!  


The YEEP  Ideas & Pitch Challenge is  organised in partnership with the United Nations Association of South Africa, University of Johannesburg.   as well as, Junior Achievers (South Africa), MRX Media (Kenya) , Empretec (Zimbabwe), Nest Hubs (Botswana) & Junior Achievers (Eswatini). 


This competition is open to young aspiring entrepreneurs interested in the following sectors: Tourism &Hospitality, Creative Industry, Food & Beverages, Technology & Online Business. Over three day's you have the unique opportunity to strengthen your entrepreneurial skills by attending workshops & pitch preparation, interact with mentors & coaches, successful entrepreneurs, investors and other likeminded people! 


Fifty participants will be pitching for the R50,000 WL Entrepreneurial Seed Grant and additional prizes with various partners including six months mentorship & coaching.  The seed fund is used to assist aspiring startups to assess the viability of their idea, fund costs of product launch & early traction through marketing support. The WL Seed Grant has been provided by the Wendy  Luhabe Foundation to support a culture of entrepreneurship among Africa's youth.


Join our growing alumni network that functions as a platform for all young founders to access suitable experts, celebrate sucesses, connect with each other, exchange ideas and find support for existing challenges. 


Our Selection Process

Our three day workshops are industry focused & intensive  pitching preparation. Participants pitch their idea to a panel of entrepreneurship experts & investment representatives. 


The first round of finalists are shortlisted in the following categories: Digital Technology, Online Business,  Tourism, Creative Industry & Food & Beverages. 


 Five winners will be awarded with the WL Entrepreneurial Seed Grant worth R50,000,  business support  &  mentoring.
